On April 9 1995, Madonna’s Bedtime Story single peaked at number five in Australia, where it stayed in that position for three weeks. It fell out of the top ten in the fifth week, and eventually exited the charts after a total run of nine weeks, falling to 44 on its last week in the charts. Sal Cinquemani of Slant Magazine praised the song, claiming that the song had unfulfilled potential and that it “could have been the next Vogue“.
Yes! Bedtime Story was the next Vogue because Inside, Madonna Got All Still Wet because as in later songs Drowned World/Substitute for Love, Gone and Looking for Mercy, Madonna became a restless dreamer still trying to find love-in a world of sorrow and sadness!
Never cared for this song. It was Bjork with Madonna vocals and I was never a fan of Bjork aside from the Sugarcubes
I prefer the Junior Vasquez mix over this. The song kicks ass!! Unfortunately, Americans don’t understand or appreciate good music as Bedtime Story did much better across the pond.
