On June 9 2016, the always outspoken, always fabulous Shirley Manson told Yahoo! Music:
“When I look at Madonna, I think Madonna should not give a fuck what anybody has to say about her age. She should explore who she is now. It would be infinitely more interesting [than her] being concerned with whether we find her sexy or not. She’s got so much more to offer than that. She should be like, ‘Kiss my ass. I’m Madonna. I may be old, but I will always have my legacy behind me and you motherfuckers won’t!’ I don’t know why she cares so much.”
Shirley recently recalled meeting Madonna at the 1999 Grammy Awards, where her band Garbage’s 1998 album Version 2.0 and Madonna’s Ray Of Light were both nominated for Album Of The Year:
“I remember that day. I walked past Madonna, and she grabbed my arm. I turned around, and she went, ‘I think you’re amazing.’ I nearly fell on top of her in shock.”

On May 4 2016, Madonna tweeted about her long-time friend and Like A Prayer collaborator, Prince:
“It’s been 7 hours and 13 days since you took your love away……….all the flowers you planted died when you went away……….Nothing Compares 2 U.”
On May 2 2016, three of Madonna’s Blond Ambition Tour dancers – Jose Gutierez, Kevin Stea & Oliver Crumes – were interviewed by Gill Deacon for CBC-Radio’s arts and culture show, Q.
The dancers were in Toronto to promote their documentary, Strike A Pose, which was being screened during the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival between April 27–May 7 and the Inside Out Toronto film festival from May 27–June 5, 2016.
For anyone who hasn’t yet watched Strike A Pose, be sure to check it out! It’s a beautiful film!

On December 2 2016, Madonna posted a photo of herself clowning around (and singing American Life) from the rehearsals for her Tears Of A Clown performance to be held later that night.
Here’s the press release for the event:
Madonna is hosting a special event at Art Basel Miami on December 2nd to benefit Raising Malawi. The event will take place at the newly opened Faena Forum, thanks to the generous support of Len Blavatnik and Alan Faena.
We hope you can join us for an evening of music, art, mischief and live performance in support of the organization’s latest project: The Mercy James Pediatric Surgery Hospital in Malawi, which was built with the help of donations coming from around the world during the past year!
Profits from the event, which includes an art auction and Tears Of A Clown live performance, will be used to fill the hospital with equipment, surgeons, medical personnel and to create and endowment for the years to come.

On April 16 2016, Madonna’s 1985 Japanese mini-album, Like A Virgin & Other Big Hits, was re-issued on pink vinyl for Record Store Day.
The four track collection included the following:

Were you in the line-ups like I was? How festive was it to see so many vinyl fans? Did you score a copy of Like A Virgin & Other Big Hits on Record Store Day, or did you have to order through eBay? – Jay

On January 23 2016, Madonna’s daughter Mercy James was the ceremonial Unapologetic Bitch during the first of two sold-out Rebel Heart Tour shows in Miami. Ariana Grande was the Unapologetic Bitch at the second Miami show.
Madonna stopped the show to present Mercy with a birthday cupcake. The crowd of 13,234 joined Madonna in singing Mercy “Happy Birthday”.
