On June 23 1990, Madonna’s I’m Breathless: Music from and Inspired by the Film Dick Tracy hit #2 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart in the USA.

After the filming of Dick Tracy was complete, Madonna began work on the film’s soundtrack, with songwriter Stephen Sondheim, producer Patrick Leonard and engineer Bill Bottrell. She also worked with producer Shep Pettibone on the album’s first single, Vogue. The album was recorded within three weeks in California.

  1. One of my favourite albums. He’s a Man is a standout track and I really wish Sooner or Latter had seen a full single release.

    • I read that Sooner or Later and Now I’m following You were planned as singles, but were scrapped when Warner decided on doing her best Hits of the 80s aka Immaculate Collection. This album was amazing. I love all the songs on it.

      • Razormaid did a serviced remix for NIFY. So it was intended as a single at least for a moment. I think it was smart to stop with Hanky Panky. Still love this album
