On November 29 2003, Britney Spears’ Me Against The Music (featuring Madonna) peaked at #35 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the USA.
Me Against The Music was recorded by Britney Spears and Madonna for Spears’ fourth studio album, In The Zone. It was written by Spears, Madonna, Christopher “Tricky” Stewart, Thabiso Nikhereanye, Penelope Magnet, Terius Nash and Gary O’Brien.
I always forget this song. Even when it came out I listened to it a few times and then the CD single started to collect dust. When was the last time you listened to Me Against The Music? Do you consider it to be a “hit” for Madonna – or do you pretend it never happened like me? – Jay
“Me Against the Music” was an okay song, but it never really clicked with me. I think the American Life backlash and the public’s weariness of the Madonna/Britney Spears flirting hurt the song’s performance. Honestly, I would’ve rather seen Hollywood or Nothing Fails on the HOT 100 than Me Against the Music.
A wasted opportunity pure and simple!
I pretend it didn’t happen. It’s a joke of a collab between the Queen and the Pretender. No offense to the Brit fans
In my personal opinion, this song was incredibly interesting in production from the acoustics to the fast, rap like vocals, and the way Britney and Madonna trade lines back and forth. The theme of the song is perfectly executed. I could go on, but all I really want to say is that I really don’t think this could have been done any better.
