Today in Madonna History: February 2, 2000

On February 2 2000, Madonna’s cover of American Pie debuted on radio in North America.

Jay’s Note: Is this a song you would like to see Madonna perform on a future tour?

  1. Love the Don McLean version. M’s is good as she takes the lyrics and uses them as a story about her journey. It’s not a favorite, but certainly not “never” to a later tour. Perhaps a Greatest Hits tour in 5 or so years. I think it would work nicely as an opening montage. “I knew that if I had my chance…I could make those people dance and maybe they’d be happy for a while”…Pure Madonna

  2. This was Madonna’s first single of the new millennium, century, decade and led to her next album Music. I doubt she will ever perform it live because the record company pissed her off by including it in the Music album. The other song she should’ve released was Time Stood Still. I really enjoyed the movie, and thought she did a great job with Pratt and Everett.
