On January 3 2003, Madonna.com announced: “Madonna’s next album is scheduled to be released in April, and there is no title as of yet. The video for the first single will be shot in February and will be directed by Jonas Akerlund. The album cover will be shot next week by Craig McDean (he also did the Vanity Fair Madonna cover).”

American Life-a reinvention that backfired on Madonna!
Look I LOVE the American Life album, its’ s my favourite but I really think she should’ve gone with Nothing Fails as the lead single. It’s a beautiful song, radio friendly and one of the most under appreciated singles she’s ever released.
One of her best albums. Unfortunately America was, and still is closed minded even though now we know the war was uncalled for. All 7 singles were amazing from AL
