SO much to say about A Certain Sacrifice. I was in full MADONNAMANIA mode when this got released. Friend and I rented it from the video store and the owner asked if he was gonna get a call from my parents for renting it to us. First sign. We started watching and my mom told us to turn it off until my little brother went to bed. Second sign. I was 10 at the time and had never seen anything “underground” or Avant guard at the time. It was so disturbing to me! My hero was in this weird, cheap and dirty looking movie. I almost took all my Madonna posters and photos down. But…I couldn’t leave her! Got over it pretty soon and grew into a teen that looked back at it with a different set of eyes. Was a blip in the Madonna universe that I actually like now as look into the underground N.Y. scene of the late punk and New wave era.
