On October 8 1996, Madonna’s You Must Love Me music video premiered on MTV.

You Must Love Me was released by Warner Bros. as the first single from the Evita soundtrack.  The song was written by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, and it won an Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1997.

Madonna filmed the music video for You Must Love Me on 31 August 1996 in California, while she was eight months pregnant with her daughter Lourdes. Madonna stood behind a piano to hide her pregnancy.

Today in Madonna History: October 7, 2009

On October 7 2009, Madonna’s Celebration single was released as a 6-track CD maxi-single by Warner Brothers in the USA.

This edition, along with the US 12″ vinyl pressing that followed, featured unique artwork created by Mr Brainwash which is based on a Wayne Maser photo from 1992. This varied from the party-shot collage used for the single internationally.

Today in Madonna History: October 5, 2015

On October 5 2015, Madonna’s Rebel Heart Tour stopped in Toronto for the first of two sold-out shows. Canadian singer, Nelly Furtado, was brought on stage during the show as Madonna’s Unapologetic Bitch.

Madonna had this to say on Twitter after the show:

“Thank you Nelly for being my b**ch tonight!! Hope you put that banana to good use!… #unapologeticbitch in Toronto! #rebelhearttour.”
