On January 26 1987, Madonna won Favorite Female Pop/Rock Video for Papa Don’t Preach at the 14th annual American Music Awards at the Scottish Rite Auditorium, Los Angeles, CA.

One of the award presenters, Mister Mister’s Richard Page, would later collaborate with Madonna & Patrick Leonard on the 1994 soundtrack hit, I’ll Remember.

  1. In the middle of her first imperial phase, Madonna made the Rock Video a legitimate art form that told a story in five minute time length-rock & roll was never the same again!

  2. Before M, music videos were largely culled from live and studio performance reels. As with everything else she does, M revolutionized what the music video form could be. She was a pioneer and trailblazer in the genre. From the beginning, she has expertly walked the line of merging art with commerce.
