Today in Madonna History: August 14, 2026

On August 14, 2026, Madonna and Kylie Minogue’s “Love Sensation (Afterhours Mix)” debuted at No. 8 on the UK Official Singles Chart, becoming one of the week’s highest new entries.

The single sold 19,707 units in its first chart week, giving Madonna her 65th UK Top 10 hit and second Top 10 single of the 2020s. It also became the first Top 10 hit and fourth UK Top 100 entry from Confessions II, continuing the album’s strong chart performance.

For Kylie Minogue, the song marked her 37th UK Top 10 hit and second Top 10 single of the decade, adding another milestone to one of pop’s most enduring chart careers.

The remix made its live debut less than two weeks earlier during Club Confessions at WorldPride Amsterdam, where Madonna surprised fans by bringing Kylie on stage for their first official collaboration. The performance quickly became one of the weekend’s defining moments and helped build momentum for the single’s release.

Fans can also pick up Love Sensation in several collectible physical formats, including CD singles released in the UK, United States and Australia, along with a limited-edition clear 7-inch vinyl available through Madonna’s official store.

Madonna fans around the world were recovering today after an unforgettable night at WorldPride Amsterdam, where the Queen of Pop transformed AFAS Live into the latest edition of Club Confessions.

Joining Stuart Price behind the decks, Madonna performed a seamless seven-song set that blended music from Confessions II with two classics from Confessions on a Dance Floor:

  1. I Feel So Free
  2. Bring Your Love
  3. Danceteria
  4. One Step Away
  5. Love Sensation — new Kylie Minogue remix
  6. Sorry
  7. Hung Up

The biggest surprise came when Madonna announced, “The lady in purple is here,” and welcomed Kylie Minogue to the stage for the live debut of a previously unheard remix of “Love Sensation.”

Wearing coordinating shades of purple, Madonna and Kylie performed the new collaboration together before continuing into “Sorry.” It was only the second time the two pop icons had shared a concert stage, following Kylie’s appearance during Madonna’s Celebration Tour in Los Angeles in March 2024.

As the pair embraced at the end of their appearance, Madonna told her:

“I’m so happy to be here with you, Kylie. Thank you. I love you!”

Kylie later thanked Madonna and everyone at Club Confessions through her social media accounts, sharing an emotional collection of heart, kiss and teary-eyed emojis.

Madonna’s approximately 30-minute appearance began at around 2:30 a.m. local time and unfolded as part of a larger DJ-driven celebration featuring Stuart Price and Honey Dijon. Rather than presenting a conventional concert, Madonna wove live vocals, choreography and appearances throughout Price’s continuous club set—bringing the original spirit of Confessions on a Dance Floor into the world of Confessions II.

The evening also marked the first known performance of “Sorry” since the conclusion of the Confessions Tour in 2006.

Twenty years later, Madonna and Stuart Price returned to Amsterdam with new music, a surprise Kylie Minogue collaboration and another reminder that when Madonna enters the club, anything can happen.

On June 29 2023, Rolling Stone posted an update on Madonna’s health along with good wishes from some of her friends:

Madonna’s famous friends (and fans) are thinking of her! On Wednesday, the singer’s manager Guy Oseary announced that the singer was in recovery after suffering from a “serious bacterial infection” that required her to stay in the ICU. By Thursday afternoon, a source told Rolling Stone that the singer was “at home and feeling better.”

“Her health is improving, however, she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected,” Oseary wrote, adding that the start of her Celebration Tour would be postponed. Soon after, her fans and numerous celebrities, including Jon Batiste, Rosie O’Donnell, and Rita Wilson, shared their well-wishes for the musician on social media.

O’Donnell, a close friend of Madonna’s, made an Instagram feed post about the singer, sharing a photo of the two during her Nineties talk show. “She’s feeling good,” she wrote, using the hashtag “love.”

Debi Mazar, also a longtime friend of the singer, shared an update on her health, posting a throwback photo with Madge. “Get well sis! Rest, restore, reboot! Strongest gal I know,” she wrote. “To all of her fans- Madonna is on the mend and home resting.”

“Hope she feels better very soon!” commented Zooey Deschanel on Oseary’s post. “Sending Madonna my prayers for a speedy recovery,” wrote Rita Wilson. “Omg sending her love and healing light! 🙏,” added Frankie Grande.

“TAKE GOOD CARE OF OUR QUEEN,” wrote Drag Race judge and Madonna stan Michelle Visage. Batiste and Ryan Tedder both commented hand-prayer emojis on Oseary’s post, while Evan Rachel Wood typed some heart emojis. Rosie Perez also commented, “Sending prayers and support ❤️❤️❤️.”

Announced in January, the Celebration Tour has been positioned to be a four-decade-spanning greatest-hits show covering Madonna’s extensive catalog. It was originally scheduled to begin on July 15 in Vancouver and would have run through Dec. 1 for a grand-finale show in Amsterdam.
